| Fatawu Hamidu Called Up to Black Stars Squad |
Medeama Sporting Club's talented left-back, Fatawu Hamidu, has received a call-up to join the Black Stars squad as a replacement for the injured Baba Rahman. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not provided details about the nature of Baba Rahman's injury that has ruled him out.
Baba Rahman, aged 28, started the match for the Black Stars and played for 69 minutes in their 2-1 comeback victory against the Central African Republic in the final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Kumasi. Despite a promising start to the season with PAOK, the former Chelsea defender faced criticism from some spectators when he was substituted.
NOTE;
Fatawu Hamidu, at the age of 24, will now join the Black Stars squad as they prepare for an international friendly against Liberia scheduled for Tuesday.
The former Accra Lions and Vision FC defender has been actively participating in Medeama's two CAF Champions League preliminary qualifying matches this season, as well as their Super Cup victory over Dreams FC.
This upcoming fixture, set to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium, is part of the groundwork for the commencement of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
